We are looking for a quality engineer to join our aluminum casting team in Defiance, Ohio! Quality engineers are responsible for protecting the customer through monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality, and engaging with sub-suppliers, among other duties. This position will require off-shift work and over time.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage - guide, lead & direct quality technicians
Understanding customer expectations of and needs from a product
Developing quality control processes
Supervising and monitoring production standards
Monitoring and evaluating internal production processes
Evaluating the final output of products to determine their quality
Rejecting products that fail quality standards
Engaging with customers and gathering product feedback
Producing statistical reports on quality standards
Reporting to upper management on quality standard issues
Improving production efficiency and managing waste
Required Qualifications:
Excellent attention to detail
Highly conscientious and diligent
Excellent verbal and written communication
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
Capable of handling multiple projects without direct supervision
Analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Familiarity with manufacturing operations, processes, and best practices
Basic understanding of quality principles
Knowledge/ability to implement lean manufacturing principles
Ability to work OT
Ability to work on an off shift
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of relative professional experience
Experience in casting/propulsion processes and equipment
Multiple different manufacturing assignments with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements
Problem solving experience with Practical Problem Solving, 7-Diamonds, Red-X
Quality control certification
Data analysis and statistical aptitude
Education/ Training:
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: College degree or equivalent training/experience
