The Opportunity
We are looking for a Robotic Actuators Software intern to join our fast- paced software development A-Team. We are a team of robotics software engineers with vast knowledge of robotics algorithms. We diligently strive for a robust, highly performant and user-friendly system, and constantly come up with new ways to optimize working with our robots. The locomotion and manipulation team designs real-time control algorithms for ANYmal to traverse challenging terrains and interact with its environment. During the internship you will be responsible to integrate our new actuation system into existing software and our locomotion framework. The preferred starting date is July and the duration of the full-time paid internship is approximately six months.

Our products enable autonomous routine inspections and monitoring of large scale industrial facilities for increased safety and productivity. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. As One Team we have proven the technology and the business impact to our customers in long-term pilot projects and are preparing to scale-up sales of our commercial product.
Your Profile Currently a bachelor, master or recent graduate in computer science, robotics, or related fields at a Swiss educational institute (university or applied school of technology)
You have some experience designing and developing software
Competence in object-oriented programming in C++, experience with ROS
Knowledge of EtherCAT and/or other communication protocols
Basic understanding of control theory, system modeling and mechatronics
Experience and interest in Machine Learning is a plus
Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work independently
Fluent in English
