The Lead Safety Specialist is a technical position responsible for supporting site implementation of the Workplace Safety System. The Regional Lead Safety Specialist is a technical position responsible for supporting the implementation of the Workplace Safety System at multiple CCA sites. The Lead Safety Specialist is accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, guiding, and coaching to site/functional operations. They are responsible for assisting Site Leadership with the following to maintain compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements:
- Analyzing Workplace Safety data and communicating results and trends along with continuous improvement opportunities
- Working in partnership with the local site leadership to support Workplace Safety cultural transformation
- Developing and educating site employees to drive Workplace Safety cultural transformation
-Developing partnerships with key site personnel including Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics resources, and Health Services.
-Is the Lead safety professionals to support a site and/or region in the implementation of safety processes.
- Develops valuable strategic direction that drives successful execution of Global Workplace Safety Strategy Deployment at the site/regional level.
- Responsible for driving successful execution of the annual GWS action plans at the sites, providing Site GWS Champions with clear direction, education and tools to be effective roadblock busters for their respective functions, requiring local/regional regulatory requirements and GM requirements are understood, implemented, and assessed at all managed sites.
- Partners with their peers to share and demonstrate good practices across their sites, supports the site operations leadership and other key GWS functions at the sites
- Meets with union representatives and works through resolution of issues
- Assists or directs the resolution of government safety violations or citations Performs other tasks as assigned.
