GM's Creative Design Organization is seeking a Group Manager for Clay Sculpting. In this role, you will manage employees engaged in multiple programs. You will evaluate employee performance and provide career development guidance. You will represent the interests of the Sculpting Organization with cross-functional management teams. You will support hiring activities and develop staffing strategies. You will provide leadership and oversight to ensure sculpting deliverables meet engineering requirements.

Position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a safety mindset while identifying, taking ownership and resolving safety concerns
  • Hold self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely and cost-effective results, without compromising the integrity, safety and quality of work
  • Sculpting organization representative of studio leadership team
  • Participate in the selection of new employees
  • Manage resource alignment and staffing requirements
  • Deliver employee evaluations and deliver compensation package for direct reports
  • Identify development opportunities and recommend training
  • Provide direction to sculpting workgroup and administer corporate and staff policies
  • Communicate model development timelines to cross functional team members
  • Ensure deliverables meet surface quality standards at GVDP program release gates
  • Approve physical and digital model quality prior to release
  • Develop common processes and best practices
  • Ask for and anticipate customer needs; make all business decisions to support those needs
  • Stay abreast of relevant technology, design trends, and model development methods

  • Expertise in surface, form, and line development
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external team members
  • Proficient in the use of current office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) with strong ability to create presentations/communication documentation
  • Be perceptive, identify imperfections, communicate, address, and follow up
  • Effectively deliver prompt, honest feedback to your employees.
  • Demonstrates and drives behaviors that support diversity and inclusion within the organization
  • Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred/equivalent industry related experience considered
