Located at Yaskawa's corporate headquarters in Waukegan, IL, the Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the performance of daily accounting procedures in order to provide senior management (YAI & YEC) detailed, timely reporting to enable sound decision making and improve the overall profitability of the business.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Lead process of quarterly submission of financial results to YEC by coordinating collection of data from YAI-R and YAI D&M subsidiaries and subsequent consolidation.
  • Analyze and prepare for presentation the financial results of YAI divisions and foreign affiliates through participation in month-end close and related reporting activities.
  • Utilize existing knowledge of company and systems to troubleshoot problems throughout the finance department and make recommendations on improvements.
  • Prepare journal entries ensuring all accounting events are properly recorded in the general ledger and properly reported in the financial statements.
  • Analyze assigned accounts monthly and recommend appropriate adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to general ledger book balances.
  • Perform additional analysis of accounting/financial transactions to ensure proper accounting and fraud detection.
  • Document and follow key financial processes to ensure ISO and JSOX compliance.
  • Provide financial support and analysis for assigned business units as required.
  • Maintain and update vendor information for accounts payable processing in SAP.
  • Prepare accurate and timely translation of foreign affiliate results for consolidated financial reporting and key metrics utilizing BPC system as appropriate.
  • Design and update forms for financial processes used throughout the company
  • Prepare and file various government reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of related party billings in a timely manner for services, fees, royalties and purchases made on behalf of affiliated companies.
  • Scan paper files to create electronic database of key documentation.
  • Assist Plant Controller in day to day activities.
  • Perform special projects as required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 2 – 7 years of overall experience in Accounting.
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office products.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Good leadership and teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle change and demonstrate flexibility.
