Senior BI Data Engineer

The Finance Business Intelligence Team, part of the Finance Digital Transformation organization at Rockwell Automation has a position available for a Senior BI Data Engineer with interest in applying Business Intelligence and Data Analytics solutions to complex real-world problems within all of Rockwell's global segments and operational functions. The Financial Business Intelligence team is responsible for delivering financial and management reporting for the Finance organization and its partners. This includes understanding information sharing requirements, data sets available and transforming those requirements into actionable reports utilizing organization preferred technology. The role will be a crucial member of the Finance Business Intelligence Team ensuring that high-quality, well- structured data is available for analysis and reporting, ultimately supporting informed decision-making across the organization.

This role is located in our Katowice office with a hybrid work system.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and maintain data pipelines to ensure data is accurately collected, processed and stored.
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Conducts user acceptance testing for new report development and enhancements.
  • Understand data definitions and required system security to ensure data is shared appropriately, in compliance with Rockwell's Safeguarding Sensitive Information policy.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and Data Analytics & Insights teams to create data sets that meet users reporting needs and to resolve system issues.
  • Understand and document Finance organization business intelligence requirements, and deliver reports, dashboards, scorecards, and ad-hoc analysis that meet user needs and align to the business strategy.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data models, and data processes for reference and training.
  • Rationalize existing Finance provided management reports and reduce duplication across businesses and geographies wherever possible.
  • Desired qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master Degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics or related technical discipline.
  • Excellent understanding of Business Intelligence and Data processing.
  • Experience working in data warehousing, Big Data, ETL, data engineering, distributed systems of data extraction, processing of large data sets or related.
  • Experience with Data modelling, data sources, data handling, data storytelling.
  • Very good English– verbal and writing skills.
  • Min 5 years of experience in related data engineering, business intelligence roles.
  • 2-3 year experience in Microsoft PowerBI dashboard creation (data analysis and visualization, proficiency with DAX language)

  • Expertise in data models, data analysis and visualization concepts and tools, preferably Microsoft PowerBI, Azure SQL DW, Azure Databricks,
  • Experience working with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, EPM or other Oracle products, and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to translate technical issues into terms understandable and actionable for different audiences.
  • Adept at leveraging systems to drive efficiencies and develop creative solutions for reporting needs.
