As a Business Analyst/FinOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the financial operations (FinOps) of the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient use of cloud resources, analyze cost patterns, and implement strategies to optimize cloud spending while maintaining optimal performance. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial governance and cost control measures. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud computing, financial management, and a proactive approach to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Cost Management: Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud resource consumption across multiple platforms, primarily Azure to minimize unnecessary spending and maintain budget compliance. Cost Analysis: Analyze cloud usage patterns and financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for cost optimization. Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders. Cost Optimization Strategies: Propose and implement cost-saving measures such as rightsizing instances, reserved instance planning, and adopting cost-effective services while maintaining performance and scalability. Financial Governance: Collaborate with finance, IT, and development teams to establish and enforce financial governance policies, ensuring adherence to budget guidelines and cost allocation models. Budget Planning and Forecasting: Assist in the development of cloud-related budgets and forecasts based on historical data and future business requirements. Cost Allocation and Chargebacks: Implement mechanisms for allocating cloud costs to different departments or projects for accurate financial reporting and chargebacks. Automation and Tools: Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate cost monitoring, reporting, and optimization processes. Vendor Management: Work with cloud service providers to understand pricing models, negotiate contracts, and stay informed about changes in pricing and services. Security and Compliance: Ensure that cost optimization strategies are aligned with security and compliance policies and standards. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging cloud cost management tools, technologies, and trends. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance FinOps efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in cloud cost management and optimization within major cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts, services, and architectures.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and experience with financial and cost management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with cloud billing, pricing models, and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages to streamline processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identify and resolve cost-related challenges.
  • Financial acumen and understanding of budget planning and forecasting processes.
  • Certification in relevant cloud platforms and FinOps disciplines is a plus.
  • The FinOps Engineer plays a vital role in managing the financial aspect of cloud operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining a high level of performance and scalability. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, financial understanding, and strong communication skills to succeed in optimizing cloud spending and supporting the organization's financial goals.
