The Senior Controls Process Engineer position will include the design, build, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems for machinery and equipment that manufacture best-in-class and tech-forward vehicles. As a Controls Engineer, you will be applying your technical expertise in order to deliver exceptional vehicles that inspire customer loyalty. You will help implement standards and procedures as you work along side with automation system suppliers to coordinate machine modification needs with engineering and maintenance. Other typical duties include developing, debugging, and troubleshooting control logic programs along with other related functions at either the supplier or plant site.
Additional DescriptionMinimum Requirements:
6+ years experience in manufacturing environment
6+ years of PLC work experience (Controls Engineer)
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience or training
Controls experience in manufacturing environment (Controls Engineer)
PLC experience with ladder logic, and schematics (Controls Engineer)
Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks
Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proven ability in project management skills
Multiple different manufacturing controls assignments with successful individual achievements
Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems
Self –motivated and ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley
Mechatronics degree or training a benefit
Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives
Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work
Knowledge of GM's global controls architecture
General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus
This position isn't eligible for ISP, ITAP, DTAP or any form of localization.
