Description

General Motors has invested substantial energy and resources in the development of Fuel Cells and is now moving towards large scale manufacturing. This role is responsible for leading the process development, equipment procurement, design approvals, commissioning and launch activities. The responsibilities will be of a technical nature and offer ample opportunity for creativity and independent judgment. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolution. This role is expected to consider technological advances and incorporate them in the manufacturing process development for achieving cost efficiencies. Position will be primarily based in Pontiac with occasional travel to Brownstown.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Product Engineering organization to assess the designs and manufacturability.
  • Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
  • Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
  • Prepare Statement of Requirements (SOR) for the equipment based on the consideration of production volumes, space optimization and labor optimization.
  • Lead the evaluation of the equipment suppliers and sourcing of the equipment.
  • Lead the engineering and design activities, safety risk assessments and coordinate the progress reviews.

    Required Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Industry experience working with assembly systems for various areas of production such as powertrain, batteries, general vehicle assembly etc.
  • Experience managing large sale projects
  • Bachelors' Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience is required
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of manufacturing assembly experience
  • Exposure to manufacturing process planning software (MPP)
  • Professional experience with 3D visualization tools
  • Masters Degree in engineering discipline is preferred
