Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical support of the component machining and assembly of engine, transmission, and electric drive units within Global Propulsion Systems (GPS) Pre-Production Operations (PPO). He/she/they will work collaboratively with CNC Programmers, Process Engineers, IT Systems and Application Engineers, as well as Machinists, Inspectors and Assemblers, to facilitate the free flow of application data and information of PPO's equipment and processes. This position is an on-site (not WFH), hands on opportunity to support the people and equipment that produces General Motors propulsion system prototypes.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the performance of CNC Programming Workstations
  • Assess Post Processor functionality issues for problem resolutions and/or rework
  • Support the development of the Post Processors of new equipment
  • Address configuration issues in support of Applications (inc., NX, ICAM Gener, TNC Remo, db Tool, TNC Remo, Teamcenter)
  • Submit IT Service Requests for repair or improved functionality of equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot CNC Machine issues including G-code and controls
  • Monitor equipment conductivity to the NAM Network and facilitate drive mapping and reconnection when interrupted
  • Support the power-down and power-up of PPO Operations
  • Use of common GPS systems and processes
  • Coordinates and consults with outside departments including Central Manufacturing Engineering and IT
  • Manage the rollout of GMIT product updates for legacy equipment compatibility and alignment with cybersecurity requirements
  • Additional Description

    Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • BS in Software or Computer Engineering or equivalent training or experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5 - 10 years of overall experience
  • Experience in manufacturing hardware and software application, implementation, testing, monitoring, and control
  • Knowledge of CNC programming and metal removal processing
  • Knowledge of 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC controlled machines
  • Knowledge of network interfaces of wire EDM, waterjet, and other unique manufacturing equipment
  • High level of project management skills
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • High level of ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to interpret engineering 2D drawings and 3D models as well as written documentation
  • Familiarity of GM software applications including ABAT(Build Verification), QDAS(Process Capability)
  • Familiarity of non-GM software applications including NX & Teamcenter (Siemens), ICAM, Calypso (Zeiss)
