As an R&D (​Research and development) Senior Engineer, you will contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. In this role, you will use your technical knowledge to oversee development tasks and to contribute to strategic technology plans and the project portfolio.

Your responsibilities
  • Solving complex industrial problems, and reviewing current technologies to choose effective applications, equipment and methods for new products or software
  • Lead for taking architectural decisions on Embedded Products with evaluating technical and business trade offs
  • Manage the whole SW (Software​) development life cycle (SDLC) of embedded software: Requirement's engineering, design, implementation, test including final system testing and maintenance
  • Performing a variety of complex technology/engineering assignments, typically utilizing advanced, innovative techniques
  • Training junior team members when needed, and heading up or participating in projects
  • Lead/Collaborate well with R&D teams, to deliver the Product releases on time, with good quality
  • Align with manager (time, cost, quality) and complete project deliverables
  • Keeping up to date with technologies, tools and methods and implementing initiatives to improve operations and customer satisfaction
  • Providing expert assistance for projects and colleagues, acting as a mentor and disseminating lessons learned
  • Developing project IP strategies, as well as identifying and managing risks in R&D projects
  • Your background
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering and minimum 8 years of experience in embedded systems architecture and design
  • Sound Knowledge of Embedded Operating Systems example Embedded Linux and/or other relevant OS experience
  • (example FreeRTOS, VxWorks, Green Hills, QNX)
  • Good experience in Linux Device driver development
  • Proven track record in embedded software programming in C/C++
  • Hands on ‘real time' experience with Linux OS and ARM based hardware platforms
  • Demonstrable experience in a lead position and proven capability in the technical management of at least one other engineer
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and with others to ensure the rapid and coordinated development of new products
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn, and to work with other software tools when required
  • A solution focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
