Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week in Warren and occasional onsite visits to Milford.
  • The Advanced Service Engineer will develop, validate and implement common serviceability specifications, service part release/information and simultaneous production across multiple vehicle platforms. Represent Aftersales Engineering within the Global Vehicle Development Process and with Product Engineering for Electrification Systems and hold themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.

  • Develop Customer Requirements Document (CRD) in MS Excel to specified timing for Service Information Developers (SID), Off-Board Serial Data Scan Tool (GDSII) Release Engineers, and Service Programming System (SPS) Engineers.

  • Develop Control Module Level Customer Requirement Documents (MLCRD).

  • Support Program Level Customer Requirement Documents (PLCRD) for Controllers.

  • Determine/Support diagnostic strategies for high voltage systems with service engineers.

  • Collaborate with electrification engineering in the preparation of high voltage battery controller service requirements for diagnostic controls, including Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) alignments, serial data control functions, and parametric data.

  • Provide GM Technical Assistance Center (TAC) with electrification systems technology support.

  • Represent Service Engineering in appropriate electrification systems engineering meetings.

  • Develop Warranty Cost Avoidance business cases that drive corporate cost savings.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, degree in Automotive Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong background in automotive engineering; engine, transmission, or propulsion control systems highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with Serial Data communication protocols.

  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with a team.

  • Proven track record of tackling complex problems.

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical wiring diagrams and controller specifications.

  • Intermediate to advanced skill level with MS Excel.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with MLCRD, GDSII, and GM Service Information

  • Hands on diagnostic/repair experience.

  • Automotive Service Excellence ASE certification(s).
