Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week.
  • The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV has created Ultifi, a new vehicle intelligence platform, that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver innovative Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform.

    Our team is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to be in charge of our production environment ensuring that the process is running efficiently, and we are able to achieve our goals. To accomplish this you will continuously monitor production, respond to incidents and closely with DevOps & Development teams. This position will also allow you to flex you cross-functional abilities while you work across multiple teams and collaborate with your counterparts in Israel!

    What You'll Do:

  • Perform Site Reliability of our environments hosted on Azure.
  • Provide 24x7 Production support responsibility based on On-Call roaster for monitoring critical applications and handling incidents.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis of Incidents and Failure Mode Analysis through a postmortem process.
  • Closely monitor and manage application logs, DB queries and infrastructure monitoring tools in order to provide a live status of the environments and for troubleshooting.
  • Define application monitoring platform requirements, architecture and design for production environment in partnership with dev, product and IT Operations teams.
  • Lead, innovate and build tools, processes and analytics that drive improvements to the visibility, availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of our products and services.
  • Establish performance metrics from each of the applications/systems' technical components (Webserver, App server, Database, etc.).
  • Provide weekly monitoring and alert analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Report vital statistics of application performance in production.
  • Make recommendations for adjustments to runtime resources to verify data integrity of data coming from our vehicles.
  • What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree
  • Minimum of years 5 of technical or engineering experience
  • Experience with implementing end to end monitoring & alerting
  • Experience with scripting languages (For example: NodeJS, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge in Application Performance Monitoring including end user experience measurement, run-time environment (discovery), Application Profiling
  • Ability to identify, debug and propose viable solutions to issues of scale and performance
  • Established track record of successfully maintaining system availability for complex environments at scale
  • What is Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • Prometheus and Grafana experience
  • Proficiency in Linux environments
