Introduction
iRobot is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. The Staff
Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager with exposure to the
Director, Accounting. This role will be responsible for the accuracy of
inventory and cost of goods sold (COGs) transactions and support the monthly
close process by recording journal entries and performing balance sheet
reconciliations related to these areas. Additionally, this role will be
working closely with key business partners in these areas to ensure accuracy
of information presented. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding
of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
They will be part of a high-performing team and will be expected to lead, take
ownership of their areas of responsibility and ensure accurate and timely
completion of company reporting requirements. This role will provide a variety
of opportunities to be visible within the company.
What You Will Do:
Key activities include but are not limited to:
Maintain and update inventory standard costs, overhead rates and transfer
pricing in Oracle ERP.
Perform weekly review of subledger transactions including inventory
variances (i.e. PPV, IPV, revaluation), material overhead, freight and
departmental costs to ensure proper accounting or propose updates as
necessary.
Work closely with the Operations team to ensure general ledger coding is
accurate.
Assist manager in owning the inventory system and work closely with IT to
fix issues and/or identify enhancements.
Prepare, review and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger
related to inventory and COGs.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations including perpetual
inventory, manual inventory, goods received not invoiced and accrual
accounts.
Review and analyze COGs related accounts for trends and discuss
fluctuations from prior months and quarters.
Support variance analysis by addressing questions and performing research
as necessary.
Assist other team members with special projects as needed.
Facilitate and support quarterly and annual requests from internal and
external auditors.
Critically review current accounting and reporting processes to identify
ways to improve and automate.
Ensure compliance of key accounting controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes.
To Be Successfull You Will Have:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
1-3 years of related experience
Understanding of US GAAP
Must be detail oriented and have strong organization skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with the ability to prioritize
and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills; verbal and written
Willingness to respond to changing business needs of a growing company
Must be in EST time zone OR willing to work East coast hours
