Introduction

iRobot is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager with exposure to the Director, Accounting Operations. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process by recording journal entries and performing balance sheet reconciliations related to Revenue reserves, AR, and Payroll/Benefits. Additionally, this role will be working closely with key business partners in these areas to ensure accuracy of information presented. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.

They will be part of a high-performing team and will be expected to lead, take ownership of their areas of responsibility and ensure accurate and timely completion of company reporting requirements. This role will provide a variety of opportunities to be visible within the company.

What You Will Do:

Key activities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation, review and posting of monthly journal entries to general ledger related to employee benefits such as Medical and Dental, 401K, Payroll allocations, and Sales Commissions.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform bi-weekly Marketing deduction processing
  • Record accruals related to various revenue reserve activities including Contractual discounts, Marketing Support, Promotional activities, Compliance charges, Returns and Pricing.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to ensure reserves are accurate and follow-up on previously accrued activities.
  • Work closely with the AR and Deduction management team on a monthly basis for Returns, Compliance and Marketing.
  • Review and analyze balance sheet and income statement information to ensure entity and consolidated level financials statements are accurate for SOX purposes and provide meaningful explanations for management review
  • Assist other team members with special projects as needed
  • Facilitate and support quarterly and annual requests from internal and external auditors
  • Critically review current accounting and reporting processes to identify ways to improve and automate
  • Ensure compliance of key accounting controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes
  • To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written
  • Willingness to respond to changing business needs of a growing company
