iRobot is looking for a Data Visualization Engineer to join our R&D Program Management Operations team.

The PMO Operations team's mission is to creatively solve problems related to iRobot's data sources and business processes to bring data-driven intelligence to our organization and customers. The Data Visualization Engineer creates tools and analyzes data with which to gain business insights for areas such as scaled agile management processes, resource management, and budget forecasting. The Operations team exists to super-charge teams to deliver more business value. We are doing this through listening closely to the teams and our data, optimizing our processes, creating better self-serve tools, and providing data visualizations for key measures.

This role will regularly work cross-functionally with roles such as Program Managers, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, or IT and requires strong listening skills to translate needs into impactful visuals. A business sense and comfort with numbers are essential for providing the right data visuals to enable day-to-day and pivotal decisions.

As Data Visualization Engineer intern, you will be responsible for designing robust data visualizations with various BI front-end solutions (dashboards, reports, visualizations, self-service tools) to discover new insights for improving program and team delivery performance. Example projects include value stream mapping & reporting, program increment status vs. planned reports, delivery roadmap projections, and program success metric dashboards.

Responsibilities:

  • Build high-quality, visually appealing data visualization and self-service data products which deliver an intuitive and action-oriented user experience
  • Engage with business analysts, business stakeholders and data product managers to effectively capture business requirements for analytical use cases
  • Align business requirements to data availability identifying gaps where data is not available to support the use case
  • Prep, shape, and model data from a variety of sources to load into visualization solutions
  • Apply systems thinking to develop full lifecycle measures and views
  • Iteratively build and validate visuals with stakeholders
  • Assist with identifying compliance with data quality and data protection policies
  • Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors in a related field such as Informatics, Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Analysis
  • Completion of coursework related to database design, programming with data, foundations of Data Science, information presentation and visualization, and business communication.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant tools such as Excel Power Query, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to Produce wireframe “mock-ups” to obtain customer buy in before formal development
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Visualization and presentation best practices
  • Strong passion for business reporting, analysis, and working with large sets of data
  • Great interpersonal skills
