Job Description

Summary

The Shipping Supervisor will oversee the shipping department activities and ensure the proper shipping and timely shipment of products to customers globally. This position is responsible for the development, training and the daily assignments of direct reports.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversees the execution of shipping processes including packaging, labeling and shipment of product
  • Identifies, tracks and maintains all necessary materials and documentation to support internal and external audits
  • Analyzes shipping requirements. Creates and implements processes and procedures that support company objectives and outside regulations
  • Implements best practices including safety requirements, maintaining desk procedures and mentoring junior level staff
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively and cross functionally in the coordination of shipping & receiving efforts. Works with Shipping/Traffic Manager on all aspects of the operation
  • Is effective in resolving conflicts with internal & external clients with professionalism and demonstrates ability to focus on root cause analysis
  • Works with guidance from management team to execute department goals and objectives. Exercises independent judgment in the execution of stated goals and objectives
  • Works on issues of limited scope. Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
  • Monitors daily operations of department. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility
  • Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules
  • Interviews and makes hiring recommendations as well as conducts personnel performance reviews and corrective actions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • 10+ years of related experience is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5+ years in a global shipping environment, 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience supporting FAA and DOT audits
  • HAZMAT ground and air shipping certification
  • Is competent in use of shipment processing and vendor related programs as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of International shipping and customs
  • Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Some college or continuing education is preferred
  • Possesses effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills and ability to prioritize the department workload to meet scheduling demands and timelines
  • Is effective in adapting to changing requirements, as needed, and steering change to maintain best practices
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
  • Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others and the company

  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment (Constant)
  • Ability to regularly stand for long periods of time (Frequent)

  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (Occasional)
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and carry/move objects of varying shapes and sizes (Frequent)
  • The salary range for this role is:

    $56,410 - $84,614
