Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 3 times per week.

GM Customer Care and Aftersales is searching for a Team Leader – Aftersales Data Licensing to lead a team of Licensing Managers and manage licensing business of Service & Parts information, Dex-family Fluids and CCA Trademarks. A successful candidate will be with strong leadership qualities, good understanding of power of data and intellectual property, continuous improvement mindset and problem-solving skill. The Team Leader – Aftersales Data Licensing is expected to be an SME in Copyright and Trademark Licensing Administration.

The primary focus of the Team Leader – Aftersales Data Licensing is to manage intellectual property protection activities to achieve GM's licensing goals and objectives while securing GM's interests and maintaining compliance with all governmental laws and regulations. This role requires global collaboration and alignment to ensure all global regions of GM are supported in licensing space as well. The ability to identify problems, develop solutions including innovation, deliver results and adapt quickly in a fast- changing business environment is a vital element of this role. This People leader will manage a team of professionals to ensure continuous improvement, effective delivery, customer retention, profitability and promote GM vision, mission, and culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for strategic development and management of various licensing programs and agreements
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with the licensees- current and potential licensees- including executives
  • Manage forecasting and collection of royalties (monthly, quarterly, annually, and long- term planning)
  • Lead executive reporting of revenue goals and results
  • Manage and monitor implementation and execution of delivery of content
  • Be an SME for Royalty Models, Brand Value, Brand Protection
  • Ensure development of new Agreements as per requirements and timely renewal or termination of agreements with Licensees
  • Ensure agreements are meeting changing business requirements and in compliance with legal guidelines of GM
  • Lead effort to gather and interpret complex data to derive business value
  • Develop licensing strategy including handling variety of non-recurring special agreements
  • Overall Project Management (including budget management)
  • Represent Data licensing team with others outside the immediate work group and others in the industry outside GM
  • Industry Liaison/Representative – NASTF, ETI, ASA
  • Lead team members as a People leader per GM requirements including performance management, developing, and mentoring direct and indirect team members, promote GM culture and behavior to support enterprise objective of Workplace of choice
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of automotive service and parts business specific to dealer and aftermarket service operations
  • Knowledge of Independent Automotive Aftermarket
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong oral, written communication skills with good computer skills especially on MS-Suite
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Strong negotiation skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to travel domestically.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in administering intellectual property licensing practices, regulatory and legal requirements for service and parts information, and Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association standards
  • Experience with Brand, data and trademark Licensing process
  • Experience with Automotive Aftermarket (or similar) Licensing
  • Knowledge of automotive service and parts specific file formats
  • Supervisory Experience including managing large team including performance management
  • Experience in contract oversight methodology including leading audit activities of suppliers, partners, licensees to assure compliance
  • Master's Degree in business
